Robin Burroughs is a Partner in IslerDare PC’s Columbia, Maryland office.

Robin’s practice spans every stage of the employment relationship—from preventive counseling, workplace investigations, and collective bargaining to trials and appeals—allowing her to provide practical advice informed by extensive litigation and labor relations experience. Prior to joining the firm in 2026, Robin practiced labor and employment law for more than twelve years at Venable LLP and a boutique employment firm in Washington, D.C.

Robin works with private and public-sector employers and nonprofit organizations, helping them navigate difficult workplace issues while developing practical strategies that reduce legal risk and support organizational goals. Robin also frequently advises educational institutions in labor relations, employment matters, workplace investigations, and Title IX-related issues.

A significant portion of Robin’s practice is devoted to traditional labor law. She represents public and private employers in union elections, collective bargaining negotiations, grievance and interest arbitration, unfair labor practice proceedings, and other union representation matters. Robin has particular experience advising public-sector employers in Maryland, D.C., and Virginia, including serving as lead negotiator during first-contract negotiations and successor collective bargaining negotiations.

Robin regularly represents employers in federal and state courts, before administrative agencies, and in arbitration proceedings involving discrimination, retaliation, wage and hour claims, leave issues, contract disputes, and other employment matters. She has significant appellate experience, and she enjoys helping employers develop litigation strategies that position cases for long-term success. She also counsels employers on day-to-day workplace issues, helping clients comply with federal, state, and local employment laws while managing business needs.

During law school, Robin served as a judicial intern for the Honorable John D. Bates of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia and was an Articles Editor for the Maryland Law Review. Before becoming an attorney, she taught elementary school in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Robin currently resides in Washington, DC with her husband and two sons.
