IslerDare PC, Virginia's premier management-side labor, employment, and employee benefits boutique law firm, is seeking an experienced Paralegal / Legal Assistant to support our attorneys in all aspects of employment litigation and day-to-day practice. This position is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and takes pride in producing exceptional work product.
Our attorneys advise employers on all aspects of labor and employment law, including workplace policies, employee relations, wage and hour compliance, discrimination and harassment matters, collective bargaining, and employment litigation in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. We are committed to providing sophisticated legal representation while maintaining a collegial and supportive workplace.
This is primarily an in-office position.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will assist attorneys with a broad range of litigation, case management, and administrative responsibilities, including:
Prepare pleadings, correspondence, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and other legal documents.
Proofread and format legal documents and correspondence.
File documents electronically in Virginia state and federal courts and before administrative agencies.
Manage all aspects of discovery, including document collection, organization, review, eDiscovery, and document production.
Organize and maintain case files, exhibits, and litigation databases.
Prepare witness interview memoranda, document summaries, deposition summaries, and hearing or trial notebooks.
Conduct legal and factual research using Westlaw, PACER, public records, internet resources, and other research tools.
Track litigation deadlines and maintain attorney calendars.
Assist attorneys in preparing for depositions, mediations, hearings, arbitrations, trials, and administrative proceedings.
Schedule meetings, depositions, and client conferences, both in person and remotely.
Answer telephones and communicate professionally with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and vendors.
Enter attorney time into the firm's billing system.
Perform additional administrative and office support duties as needed.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
At least 3 years of experience as a paralegal, legal assistant, or litigation support professional, preferably in employment or civil litigation.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint).
Experience with electronic filing systems, including ECF/PACER.
Experience managing discovery and document-intensive litigation matters; familiarity with eDiscovery platforms is preferred.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple matters and competing deadlines.
Strong investigative, analytical, and research abilities.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
Experience with legal billing software is a plus.
Experience with Virginia state and federal court procedures is preferred.
